  • Download a beta version of Swype for Android

Windows Mobile fans should be familiar with Swype, the popular and new input method that graces the Samsung Omnia II.

  • Rolling fireplace puts danger on the move

I love a good fireplace, but I hate having to move away from it to make myself a sandwich or use the bathroom. Thats why I love this rolling fireplace: I can roll it around with me wherever I go.

Sure, if it tips over or goes down some stair accidentally you might just burn your house down, but come on. Youre not some sort of klutz. I think the possibility of imminent danger makes this thing even cooler, anyways.

Apple holds second place U.S. smartphone share

Apple holds second place U.S. smartphone share

However, Apples rate of growth appears to have slowed. From October 2009 to January 2010, the iPhones share only increased by 0.3 percentage points; from September 2009 to December 2009, comparatively, it had increased by 1.2 points. Dont let the slowing in growth fool you, though: Apple still holds a very healthy 25.1 percent market share behind RIMs pack-leading 41.3 percent.

Meanwhile, Googles Android platform is the big mover and shaker, having jumped from a 2.8 percent share in October 2009 to a…

Love Apples iPhone, but envy Android and Palm users who can run more than one app at the same time?

According to a new AppleInsider report, thats going to change this summer. Apple will introduce a full-on solution to multitasking in version 4.0 of the iPhone operating system.

Questions that remain once Apple flips the multitask switch:

How the iPhone will conserve resources and battery life

How the interface will manage notifications and switching between apps

If there will be a limit to how…

Google Blue Dot Specials via Mobile Phone

Google Blue Dot Specials via Mobile Phone

Google just launched a new feature on the mobile version of Google Product Search which could take local shopping search start up Milo out at the knees. Whenever you do a Google product search from a mobile phone, blue dots will appear next to items which are in-stock at nearby stores. The image at right is from a search I just did for HDTVs. The blue dots are subtle, but they certainly distinguish those results. Google has partnerships with Best Buy,…

PlayStation Move motion controller launched at GDC, starter kit to be under $100 with game

No surprise here: Sony just officially announced the PlayStation Move motion controller at GDC 2010, calling it the “next generation of motion gaming” because it’s so precise — latency is about the same as the DualShock 3. As expected, it uses the PlayStation Eye camera to track the controller, and Sony says it becomes an “extension of your body.” The plan is not only to engage casual gamers, but to use the precision of the controller to create “new experiences for core gamers” —…

Google takes on StumbleUpon with Reader Play

Online marketplace eBay has learned a costly lesson over the past few years: stick to what you’re good at. Having failed to make its acquisition of Skype work, it also sold recommendation engine Stumbleupon back to its creators last year, just two years after buying it.

It was reported at the time of the StumbleUpon acquisition that Google was also interested and, having missed out, it looks like Google has spent the intervening time coming up with its own alternative.

SugarSync app gets an update, now at version 1.54

SugarSync is one of the favorite apps on my iPhone, partly because it acts as a backup for the files on my iMac and partly because it allows me to access those files (from my iPhone) while on the go. Sort of dual-featured in that respect. But that aside, the SugarSync team has been offering updates to include support for other devices and also making improvements to the currently available apps, such as the…
